Venture Capital
Venture capital firms provide funding to early-stage, high-growth potential startups in exchange for equity ownership. Unlike private equity firms, they typically do not utilize debt financing (leverage), do not hold a majority stake in their investments, and instead take on higher risk in pursuit of outsized returns.
The goal of VCs is to help startups scale rapidly and eventually exit through an acquisition or IPO, realizing significant gains on their equity stake.
